Government says it remains committed to working with private hospitals to ensuring a healthy citizenry in it’s quest to achieving economic development.

Minister of Health, SYLVIA MASEBO says private hospitals are an important element and play a key role in the delivery of quality health care to the people.

Ms. MASEBO says private health facilities complement the public health sector.

The Minister said this in a speech read on her behalf by Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary-Technical Services, LUCKSON KASONKA during the Zambia Association of Private Hospitals -ZAPH- 10th Annual General Meeting in Lusaka.

Meanwhile association President ABEL MWALE called on government to involve private hospitals in it’s research and treatment works for an improved health care delivery system.

Dr. MWALE said government should also take into consideration the rights of health care providers in addition to patients’.

And Health Professional Council of Zambia -HPCZ- Chief Executive Officer, FASTON GOMA said the council is working towards reducing registration fees for private hospitals .

Prof. GOMA also disclosed that HPCZ is also working on phasing out the multiple licensing system for the private hospitals to single licence in collaboration with stakeholders.
