Cooperating partners have committed US$1.3 Billion to Zambia’s Health Sector for the period 2023 to 2025.

Of that amount, about 630 Million dollars has been allocated for the year 2023.

The money will come from the main donors such as the United States, the World Bank, Japan, GAVI, EU, UN agencies, Germany government and the Global Fund.

World Health Organisation -WHO- External Relations Officer KRISTINA SERIS disclosed the development when she made a presentation at the Ministry of Health annual consultative meeting with cooperating partners in Lusaka today.

She explained that the main areas of focus for the funding will be in HIV and AIDS, Sexual reproductive health and Mother and Child health.

And Health Minister SYLVIA MASEBO said Government wants to reduce HIV infections in young people.

Ms. MASEBO also disclosed that in malaria prevention, the Ministry is targeting to spray 2.7 million structures and that over 11 million treated mosquito nets will be distributed countrywide in 2023.

Meanwhile, WHO Country Representative NATHAN BAKYAITA commended government for reaching over 75 percent vaccinations against COVID 19.
