NAIS-The European Union -EU- has provided an extra E20m for the implementation of the Sustainable Intensification of Smallholder Farming Systems in Zambia -SIFAZ- Project.
This is in addition to the initial E12.5m funding to the SIFAZ Project being implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organisation -FOA- in partnership with the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre and the Ministry of Agriculture.
Agriculture Minister REUBEN MTOLO has applauded the EU for providing the additional funding to the project which is promoting the sustainable intensification practices in 27 districts in five provinces.
Speaking during the launch of SIFAZ Mechanisation Road Shows in Mpongwe District where the EU announced the additional financing, Mr. MTOLO reiterated government’s commitment to the continued strong collaboration with the EU and other partners.
And EU Charge D’Affairs BRUNO HANSES said the aim of the funding is to support the sustainable commercialization of the smallholder farmers in Zambia.
